Cod Liver Oil or Omega-3 Fish Oil?

The two are essentially the same. Deciding on one or the other is a matter of personal choice. Back in the days of our parents and grandparents, Cod Liver Oil was the staple supplement given to children for proper growth and good heath.

Omega 3 fish oils are getting a lot of attention these days, and with good reason. Most diets, especially American diets, are 85% depleted of this life saving nutrient. We don’t eat enough oily fish like salmon, cod, sardines, mackerel or anchovies anymore. Our parents don’t serve us cod liver oil anymore. Instead, we’ve replaced this healthy nutrient with sugar, processed foods and too much red meat – all of which increase silent inflammation in the body.

Silent inflammation is pretty much that: inflammation in the body that goes unchecked because it doesn’t cause any outward symptoms (like arthritis does) – but it’s there. Over years silent inflammation can lead to chronic diseases like cancer, heart disease, diabetes, MS, asthma, and obesity.

Omega 3 fish oils quell silent inflammation in the body. Simply taking Omega 3 fish oils in therapeutic doses can reduce and even stop disease in its tracks. They are truly the “keys to the kingdom” of health and wellness. Sounds kind of important, huh?

Whether you are healthy or dealing with disease in one form or another, Omega 3 fish oils should be a part of your daily regimen. Remember to take your Omega 3 fish oils with your largest meal of the day, otherwise they may repeat on you – not very attractive. You can also buy enteric-coated Omega 3 fish oil capsules, which dissolve in the duodenum, (upper part of your small intestine), as opposed to your stomach and skip the possibility of it “repeating” on you entirely. Just remember you want to buy high quality Omega 3 fish oils from cold-water fish sources.
