BBQs, Parties and Booze...Oh my!

Whether you’re escaping to the beach or staying local for the 4th, there are sure to be more than a few parties and barbeques to tempt you into over-indulgence. Here are a few items to keep in your Holiday Survival Arsenal.

Coconut Water: This is the holy grail of hangover-helpers.  A hangover is your body’s reaction to being severely dehydrated from alcohol. Coconut water’s secret is that it has the EXACT balance of electrolytes that your body creates naturally for itself!  Hydration sports drinks offer just a fraction of electrolytes – 50 mg of potassium or so compared to Coconut Water’s 650mg. This means that when consumed pre and post party you can stave off the hangover that you know is coming the next day. Hallelujah!

Emergen-C: This product is pure genius. Vitamins and electrolytes in a yummy portable packet you can take anywhere and add to water. This is perfect for the beach, poolside, or anytime you’ll be outside in the sun for hours. Also, a great addition to any hangover remedy.

Alka-Seltzer: Ever wonder why Alka-Seltzer is the hangover medicine of choice? It’s because of the carbonation. The carbonation in Alka-Seltzer speeds the absorption of the aspirin into your system to help with that awful thumping headache, and helps to calm your queasy tummy too.

MYNT PARTY TIPS:

-       Eat something small before you get to the party. This will keep you from bingeing on those finger-licking-good bbq ribs.

-       Alternate water with alcohol. This makes a huge difference in sobriety and the dreaded hangover.

-       If you’re going to drink, make sure you EAT! The food will help balance the alcohol and you won’t get horribly wasted immediately. No one wants to be that guy.

-       Drink an Emergen-C or a Coconut Water before bed. This will give you a jump- start on relieving the hangover while you sleep.

-       Don’t drink and drive! Every city has taxi service – use them. It’s just NOT worth the risk to you and those who might be affected by your bad judgment.
