These days, it seems like there is a giant conspiracy happening in offices everywhere...

The office pantries are filled with sodas, cookies, bagels, and doughnuts. It seems nearly impossible to avoid the vibrant candy bowl, the plate of leftover desserts or those chemical laden sodas.

The office has transformed into a sugary wonderland waiting for you to become its king. Be our master, the jelly beans scream in unison, and there’s nothing for you to do but grab a handful (and then another) to keep them quiet.

Hold on your highness…Keep your paws in your pockets. There is an alternative to becoming the Snack King of the break room.

A smart way to avoid the sugary wonderland is to stock a desk drawer with healthy alternatives that will keep you well-fueled and squash your sugar craving demons.

A good choice is something with protein for fuel, good carbs to keep you alert, and an appealing taste to keep you away from those damn glazed doughnuts!

TASTY ALTERNATIVES…

Protein bars - these bars have come a long way and are available in a wide variety of flavors to tempt any candy bar junkie. Choose bars that are lower in sugar.

Chocolate covered almonds – healthy fats and a yummy sweet. Make that dark chocolate for a boost in antioxidants.

Trail Mix – make your own to ensure you’ve got the right mix of taste and nutrients.

Chocolate milk – yes….it has a great balance of protein and carbs and makes a great post-workout drink too!

Carob bars - though not quite chocolate, carob tastes great and satisfies the craving. They come in a wide variety of flavors too.

Yogurt – the flavor options are endless.

Protein water - this stuff tastes sweet and will keep your energy up and sugar demons in check.
