We've all been there.

Okay, you’ve been out all night boozing with your buddies, dancing until the wee hours. Maybe you removed your own tooth with a pair of pliers, married Heather Graham when she was a stripper…wait, what did you do last night?

You can physically feel your brain scraping on your skull while fuzzy fractured pieces of the night are slowly surfacing making you wish you could just go get a lobotomy rather than keep these memories that will surely haunt you for the next two weeks. First order of priority? Make this hangover go away.

The following  juice is better than your run of the mill Bloody Mary. It will actually help your body repair the ravages of the previous night’s escapades.

When you drink booze you are typically consuming two types of alcohol. Ethanol, which is the purest form of drinking alcohol, and Fusel Alcohols, which are higher order alcohols produced during fermentation.

Ethanol = good. Fusel Alcohols = bad.

When you drink, enzymes in your body break down the alcohol. Since ethanol is easier to break down, the enzymes will concentrate on these first. Once all of the ethanol is broken down the enzymes will move on to the fusel alcohols. The byproducts that result from the breakdown of these fusel alcohols are quite toxic. The toxins are responsible for your hangover.

So, hungover friend, follow the juice recipe below and be on your way to semi-conscious in no time.

Carrots – 6 unpeeled and organic

Radishes – 4 with the leaves if possible

Apples – 2 unpeeled, uncored and quartered

Coconut Water – 6 oz

Quality Vodka – 1 shot stirred into the fresh juice (again, deep breaths)

Juice the carrots, radishes and apples, then stir in the coconut water and vodka. Sip slowly.

This juice is super rich in vitamin A, beta-carotene and other cartenoids. Rich in potassium, it will rebalance your electrolytes. The pectin (a natural source of fiber), stimulates your digestive system to gently clean out the alcohol by products before they really do some damage.

Radishes are liver cleansers and they gently warm the body. Carrots provide a massive boost of vitamin A (also very good for the liver), and apples are nature’s great detoxifiers. The shot of vodka (deep breaths, don’t throw up) will have your body focusing on breaking down the ethanol, and give you a chance to get rid of the fusel alcohol via sweat, breath, and pee.

* This juice WITHOUT the vodka is a great way to start your day and keep your liver in tip top shape!
