Coconut oil can boost your metabolism!

You know those fabulous coconuts that we all love? Whether they are shredded, fresh, coconut water, coconut milk or coconut oil, these super yummy coconuts can help us lose weight and stay healthy! LOVE IT!!

Unfiltered coconut oil has been proven to be help you lose weight, keep you at a healthy weight and boost your metabolism!

Coconut Oil improves the healthy function of your thyroid (necessary for a healthy metabolism), and supports the enzyme systems in your body by removing stress on the pancreas, which allows for more available energy during your workouts and throughout the day!

HOW IT WORKS

The science behind this, is that coconut oil is a MCT or “medium chain triglyceride”. MCTs are pretty much directly sent to the liver during digestion where they are quickly burned. As a result, MCTs are less likely to be stored as fat compared to other oils (YAY!!). Coconut oil is immediately converted to energy! After eating coconut oil, energy levels soar as a result of you body metabolizing the MCTs (double YAY!!!).

Studies conducted in the Pacific Islands in the 1930s by Dr. Weston Price, compared the diets of the native people with the diets of modern cultures. Up to 60% of the Pacific Islanders diet consisted of high levels of saturated fat from coconut oil (coconut meat, water, etc). Despite the high fat diet, these people were not obese and were in excellent health. They lived to a ripe old age with very little disease and it was all attributed to their consumption of coconuts.

In the 1940s, American farmers began using coconut oil in order to fatten up their livestock. Unfortunately (well, fortunately for the cows), the exact OPPOSITE happened and the cows became thinner, leaner and with higher levels of energy. When examined the livestock had a huge increase in their thyroid activity as well.

Add 1 tbs of unfiltered, coconut oil to your smoothies (it adds richness and that yummy taste) or try cooking with it (it adds a tropical light sweetness) and watch your energy levels soar and your scale become much friendlier!
