The boss is yelling at you, a mystery co-worker has stolen your lunch, and the newbie you just hired is angling for YOUR job.

Before you flip out and earn yourself a psych evaluation, try this meditative trick to soothe your savage beast.

Positive visualization is a proven technique used for a better sense of well being. No, we’re not talking about visualizing yourself wringing the secretary’s neck…we’re talking about going to your own personal Happy Place.

POSITIVE VISUALIZATION

Sit upright in your chair, close your eyes and go to a very happy memory or location. Some place that brings you joy and relaxation…. Stay there for a few minutes, soaking in the sunshine and take a few deep breaths. When you feel the urge to strangle those around you waning, take another deep breath and open your eyes. Voila! Happy, stable person has returned.

Research has shown that keeping a photograph or two of happy places and memories around you can also do the trick. Frame your kiddies, pets, or dream vacation spot and surround yourself with them in your otherwise dull cubicle.
