Want to be more productive, happier, and healthier?

Ahhh, the good old days when taking a nap was not just mandatory, but completely socially acceptable.

As adults, naps are frowned upon. We’re expected to go go go from morning until the wee hours of the night on what usually averages out to 5 hours of sleep nightly. This leaves us exhausted, cranky and less productive than we might be if we just slowed down and got a good 8 hours shut-eye.

So what are we to do? The solution is simple: take a nap.

Insanity you say? Well here are a few reasons, and a few tricks on how to squeeze in a quick 20 minutes of rest.

WHY YOU SHOULD SNATCH A QUICK CAT NAP…

  • People who take a nap here and there generally enjoy a better sense of well being, mental clarity and tend to be more productive.

  • Don’t nap for too long. 20 to 30 minutes seems to be the perfect amount of rest. Too much sleep and you’ll be more tired. Experiment with the amount of time that suits you best so you feel refreshed upon awakening.

  •  A “nap” can also be simply a rest period without sleep. Lying on the sofa or sitting in the park can also be extremely restful. The secret is in not doing anything, which is the very essence of rest.

  • Remember that napping is widely accepted in many other cultures. The siesta has been a staple of Spanish culture for ages. Long lunches and breaks in the middle of the day are commonplace in European culture. Why not here too?

In a society like ours where we are constantly bombarded by stimulus, a quick mental getaway might be just the thing you need to perk up and feel revived!
