Move Scale! MOOOVE!!!

So you’ve been watching what you eat and exercising regularly. Everything was going just swimmingly, until one day…..the scale stopped moving.

Before you throw your hands up and go diving face first into a cheesecake (we hear that’s a good skin care remedy), try switching up your boring exercise routine. The key to blasting through a weight-loss plateau is to challenge your body.

SWITCH IT UP!

Your body, very much like you, gets bored. The same routine will eventually stop working. Our genetics are programmed from way back in the caveman days for survival when food was scarce and we needed that extra padding to get through the icy winters. Your body figures “Okay, so this is what we do. We can do this….Better keep some fat on hand in case there’s a famine.”

Just as we like variety in our life, your body needs variety in its exercise routine.

Changing your exercise routine challenges your body and uses new muscles. If you’re a runner, try the elliptical. If you’re a strength trainer, try squeezing in a yoga class or two during the week. If you’re a die-hard yogi, add in a bit of strength training or cardio. Try a spin class once a week, or shake your booty in a Zumba class. Your body wants out of this snooze-fest. Keep it interesting: if your body has to do work and guess what it will have to do next, the pounds will commence shedding.  Hallelujah!
