The protein predicament...

How much protein does YOUR body need? Too much and the extra glucose turns to fat. Too little and your body will leech what it needs from your muscles and bones leading to atrophy and osteoporosis. So how much do you really need?

PROTEIN PROPORTIONS

Here is a simple equation for the daily minimum of YOUR personal protein requirements:

Your weight x .37 = grams of protein per day needed

For example a person who weighs 150 lbs needs 55.5 grams of protein a day as their minimum.

*150 x .37 = 55.5 grams of protein*

If you exercise daily, your protein needs are greater. Your body needs more protein to repair the muscle and feed your energy needs.¬†¬†Remember to listen to your body. Eating a bit of protein at every meal and snack is a great way to incorporate it into your diet comfortably, without an “I’m way too full” overload.
