  • SEX AND THE SUPERMARKET

    Written by Logan Orlando

No doubt Dr. Ruth got it right: when it comes to sex, the inches that matter most are between the ears. That said, who couldn't use a little extra somethin' somethin' to heighten the mood, and, um....other things? Don't be embarrassed. Today we give you six natural aphrodisiacs to eat, drizzle, cook and otherwise enjoy. Honey licking, anyone?
  • RAW OYSTERS

These delicious, succulent little mollusks are packed with zinc, which has long been linked to increased sperm production and higher testosterone levels. As men age, their bodies don't absorb zinc as readily, and testosterone levels can suffer as a result. Share a cool dozen of these with your mate and follow your sexy slurping sounds at the table, with some zinc-tastic heavy breathing in the bedroom.
  • CHILI PEPPERS

These red-hot spicy numbers contain capsaicin (hence their being members of the capsicum family), a chemical that stimulates nerve endings, increases blood flow (yep), quickens the pulse, makes you sweat, and may even release natural high inducing endorphins. Gee, what else has that affect on the body? Hmm....
  • GARLIC

Sure you may reek, but chomp down on cloves of this known breath annihilator and watch it grow. Okay, we exaggerate a bit, but the allicin and other healthful elements of this herb increases blood flow to your organs. Not to mention, many herald garlic as an erectile dysfunction aid. Couple this with the fact that it has been used for medicinal purposes by the Babylonians, Greeks, Egyptians, Romans and Chinese, and it seems downright ridiculous to avoid this pungent ingredient on a romantic date out, or candlelit dinner in bed.
  • BANANAS

Besides the fact that simply putting one in your mouth could arguably be considered foreplay, this incredibly phallic fruit is chock full of potassium (integral to muscle strength) and vitamin B, both of which assist human production of sex hormones. Some say the nanner is nature's perfect food, and since it contains chelating minerals, which help the body absorb nutrients and may bolster male libido, we tend to agree.
  • HONEY

It's sticky, sweet, and fun to lick. We could stop there, but this delightful, versatile product is rich in boron, a trace mineral that helps the body use and metabolize estrogen (good news for the ladies in the house), and vitamin B, which is needed for testosterone production (good news for the gents).
  • ASPARAGUS

This member of the lily family may not be high on your sexy foods list, but there's a reason 19th-century French bridegrooms were fed heaps of these skinny green spears before sealing the ultimate intimate deal. Besides being packed with potassium, vitamin B6, A and C, thiamin, and fiber, Asparagus contain folic acid, believed to increase histamine production necessary for both sexes to reach "the big O". Oh yes, please!
